Secret Underground Film Society

The Secret Underground Film Society is open to anyone over the age of 18 with a love of watching a good film with a glass of wine and a bag of popcorn. Some people come on their own, others with friends or as a couple. Whatever you decide to do, it’s a relaxing way to spend an evening and perhaps meet some new friends too.

How does it work?

We have only 10 seats in our Foreign Office so we strongly recommend booking in advance. You can reserve a space online via the secret links in the Facebook Group or email newsletter or at the café. We can also take reservations over the phone on 01962 866 480. When you book, you’ll pay £10 for our “film-lover bundle” which includes a glass of house wine or a beer or soft drink plus a packet of Joe & Seph’s popcorn.

Why So Secret?

Our copyright licence does not allow us to publicly advertise the films we show so we can only spread the word via emails to our mailing list, on the board in the café or via our Facebook group. You do not need to be a member of the Facebook group to come to a screening but it is the only way to find out online which films are showing. Remember, because the screenings are secret, you will not be able to search for them on the Eventbrite site.

At the time of writing, there is a glitch with the events calendars in Facebook groups. Please scroll through the Discussion feed to find the individual events.

What Films Do You Show?

We show a different theme every month, which might be along the lines of a specific genre, director or actor. In the past we have asked the Facebook group to vote for the theme or movie they’d most like to see next so it’s worth joining the group and getting involved!
